About the training

This sign language course is designed to introduce participants to the basic principles of sign language communication. The course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of sign language as a visual-gestural communication system used by deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Participants will learn basic vocabulary, grammar, and cultural aspects associated with sign language.
Course Objectives
This course is designed to introduce participants to the basics of sign language, focusing on Tanzania Sign Language (TSL) as the primary mode of communication. The course will cover fundamental vocabulary, grammar, and cultural aspects of signing. Emphasis will be placed on developing practical skills for effective communication with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Course Outline
At the end of training participants will cover the following contents;

- Greetings Signs
- Family and Relations
- Spiritual Vocabularies
- Time and Weather.
- Business and Economy
- Deaf Culture.
- Conversational Skills.
Review and assessment: At the end of a lesson participants will be able to provide services to deaf people and be able to communicate with Deaf community

Special needs people, Office Secretary, Receptionist, Office attendant, Front Officer, Administrative and Human resources officers, Customers care and anyone who will be selected to attend the workshop.

Mr. James Selemani Yona is a Certified Tanzania Sign Language Interpreter having more than five years’ experience in teaching and translation.
