COURSE OVERVIEW

All Construction Projects are conceived to benefit society or an entity who pays for it. Uneconomic or poorly conceived projects invariably fail and, when they do, the cost to the society (or to the entity) is immense.

Hence, all construction projects require a structured delivery management process from inception stage to contract award stage — Pre-contract Phase — leading to the Post-Contract Phase requiring   Construction Contract Management & Dispute Management skills.

This 4-day Masterclass course relates to pre-contract phase of a construction project delivery system and its management till contract award stage. The course is interactive and covers all aspects of all stages involved. Live examples of challenges faced – and manner of resolving them — will be given.

    • The Session on “Overview of Construction Project Delivery System” sets out the overall objective of the 4-day course.

 

    • The Session on “Project Initiation” outlines the economics or viability of any project of which the carrying out of Feasibility Studies is an integral part, which, in turn enables Financial  planning to take place.
    • Session on Preliminary & Detailed Designs — entrusted to experienced consultants — brings out the need for quality –based selection of consultants, which, if compromised can lead to higher construction costs through adoption of poor quality designs.
    • The final Session on “Procurement of Contractors” gives various steps which go into Value-for-Money outcome

FACILITATOR

The Facilitation will be Engineer S.J. Chavda, the former Chairman of Association of Consulting Engineers, a former Board Member of National Construction Council and of Contractors Registration Board.
